Great tower defense game. The artwork is charming and the game has a level of polish that is especially impressive considering it was achieved within Pico-8's limitations. It's clear that the author worked hard and I've already spent a lot of time enjoying the game.
The placement of towers is random by default and you benefit from getting towers of the same type, so there is an element of luck, but you're given options to work around or manipulate this mechanic. It creates opportunities for you to recover or gain even if you got towers you didn't initially want. Towers have different abilities that can work together to improve your defense, and the game rewards you with extra coins for selling certain towers at the right time, creating a situation where you're constantly looking for opportunities to make the most of your luck and improve your defense. It's very addictive.

Once I decided to go for high scores however I started to wish that the rules were a bit more clear. It seems the final score you submit is the number of coins you earned, but I'm not sure if all coins count. I was pretty sure that coins for completing a wave, killing an enemy and coins you get directly by selecting certain options at the start of a wave add to the score. I wasn't sure if selling towers does though, and my best guess is that it only counts when the tower is on offer by the witch merchant lady.

That's really the only issue I had. The game is very difficult but not unreasonable at all, and I had a lot of fun losing and learning how to do better in the next run. Thank you for the game!
